Change GMT default settings globally:

pygmt.config(PARAMETER=value)

Change GMT default settings locally by using it as a context manager:

with pygmt.config(PARAMETER=value):
    ...

Note

For GMT defaults to adjust the figure appearance, e.g., the font size, pygmt.config needs to be called after setting up the pygmt.Figure instance to have an effect. This is relevant for both, global and local changes. For details see the GitHub issue comment.

Note

PS_CONVERT is not supported. To configure conversion options, please pass parameters to pygmt.Figure.savefig or pygmt.Figure.show instead.
